Ihwa Mural Village Tour

We had a tour around the village where we learned history of the residents who live there and the revitalization that the city has undertaken in this area. It is really a beautiful space but points out the problems that people of lower class have all over the world

  1. The Ihwa Mural Village was an uphill adventure, the murals weren't the only beautiful sight. It was awesome seeing Seoul as a whole and seeing how the city was layed out.

    1. I'm glad we decided to walk further up to the top of the village. An uphill trip well worth it.

  2. This was my favorite experience in Korea. I loved hearing the history and being able to see the murals as we journeyed up the mountain. I loved looking around the town and I so glad the man told us to travel up because the view was breathtaking. I would have staying the much longer if we didn’t have to go down.

  3. The last day was hard and tough. Walking on cliffs and climbing the stairs was too much for me. If there was a cable car to reach the top, it would be perfect. The village wall art was interested to watch, and the views from the top were really amazing.

  4. Seeing some of the awesome works of art and then hearing about the controversy behind them was so intriguing. While I absolutely loved the area and all it had to offere (ie: sunglasses and affogato) I can definitely understand why the original residents took such issue with the wave of buisnesses and tourism that came with the murals- especially after hearing Hallie tell us that Koreans don't typically like people seeing their homes and how they live.

  5. I am so glad that we traveled up as high as we could. Getting the perspective of Seoul from the wall was amazing. The murals were great, and the ice cream was amazing.

  6. The History behind this was very interesting and it made this more of mixed emotions for it. The murals are beautiful but at the same time the people who live there don't want it. I really wonder how is this is going to affect the people and that area later on.
