Joygesa Temple

Started morning at a Buddhist temple in insadong. A beautiful and historic setting. We were lucky to arrive early and able to hear the monk chanting some prayers in the Dharma Hall

  1. This was my second favorite place. Seeing and hearing a monk chant was so cool (I even ran into a couple on the subway, who knew monks traveled that way). The rainbow colored lanterns were so beautiful. The temple itself had different murals of Buddhas life and performing different acts on three sides of the building. The huge gold Buddha was spectacular. I had a vision that the temple would be quite modest but I thought it was pretty ornate.

  2. The architecture was beautiful. I loved exploring the grounds and hearing the chanting. It was the perfect time to come because the hundreds of colorful lanterns hanging around the place was incredible to see.
