Noyangin Fish Market Tour

We toured both the old traditional fish market and the new fish market. We learned a lot not only about the different fish in the market, but also about the politics of the remodeling.

  1. I'm not fish eater, but seeing this was definitely eye opening. It's crazy to see all the sea creatures that you can eat, and that fact that its all kept alive until its practically consumed. The freshness is definitely real here. The octopus, skates and squids were just relaxing on the table ready to be bough and eaten. I've definitely never seen that before. The king crabs were huge, I had no idea they got that big. I didn't even know half of the things for sale were even edible!

    1. Seeing the squids, octopus and giant crabs live was incredible. I too was blown away with the size of the king crab.

    2. Yep!! You really got to know what you were eating vs. how we eat our food in America. And the freshness was unreal!

  2. I loved the old run down fish market. Seeing how the store owners interact with us and our guide trying to get us to buy fish was funny. The juxtaposition between the old and the new markets was stunning too. And the fish was just incredible.

    1. It's insane to think that all that fish is straight out of the ocean and super fresh.

  3. During this Noryangjin fish market tour, I enjoyed the meal and took time-lapse video for the whole group. The most delicious dishes were the fresh calamari and shrimp. I tried calamari several times and different countries but was not delicious like that. this time, I felt that I ate the real calamari

  4. This was the best meal we had in Korea! I loved how we went to both of the fish markets and got to learn more about Korea and the people who work it.

  5. My absolute favorite meal!!! Susan and I absolutely tore up the grilled fish. I think I might have to eat fish with chopsticks from now on. I really enjoyed hearing our tour guide's outlook on North Korea. I found it very insightful hearing the perspective of an actual Korean rather than our news in the US.
